Christian Reference Books:

The Complete Guide to the Bible by Stephen M. Miller - This is a book that gives you an overview of each book of the Bible. I have 3 of these type of books - all good, but this one is by far my favorite! The author writes in an engaging easy-to-read style. The pictures in this book are gorgeous. The boxed text has fascinating information about culture and history. The maps are vibrant. This is my #1 book recommendation for people who want to read and study the Bible.

Rose Publishing has a lot of good reference books, but my favorite is the Rose Book of Bible Charts, Maps & Timelines. They have come out with a 10th anniversary edition so it will look different than my gray one in the picture. Rose Publishing now have a Volume 2 and 3.

Rose Book of Bible Charts, Maps & Timelines has a wealth of information in it! General Bible charts, Old Testament and New Testament Charts. Some of the stuff included: Kings and Prophets, Archaeology & the Bible, 100 Prophecies Fulfilled by Jesus, The Twelve Disciples, Evidence for the Resurrection,...

This book is awesome. When I worked at the Christian bookstore, I would just show this book to customers and they would almost always want one!

Rose Book of Bible Charts Volume 2 by Rose Publishing has more charts. Some information included: Why Trust the Bible?, Christ in the Old Testament, Women of the New Testament, The Life of the Apostle Paul,...

Rose Book of Bible Charts Volume 3 by Rose Publishing has even more informations and charts. It contains various topics on Christian Living, Bible Favorites, Attributes of God,...

Each of these volumes can be purchased separately. On Christianbook they are $19 each. You can also purchase Rose Book of Bible Maps, Charts, & Timelines Set - Volume 1-3 all three together for $50. I highly recommend these reference books - especially the original volume.

Christian Classics:

Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis - Based on a series of broadcasts during the World War II years, C.S. Lewis sets forth a rational case for the Christian faith. I thought the book starts out slow the first couple chapters, but then I couldn't put it down. A must-read.

The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel - In this book the former legal editor of the Chicago Tribune, Lee Strobel, traces his spiritual journey from atheism to faith. He set out to prove his wife's new faith was false. And after challenging dozens of experts with tough questions, he became a believer. This book rocked my world.

Autobiography:

The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom with John and Elizabeth Sherrill tells the account of this elderly Dutch woman whose family helps the Jews during World War II. They get caught and she is sent to brutal Ravensbruck concentration camp. Her story is amazing.

Tramp for the Lord by Corrie ten Boom with Jamie Buckingham is the sequel to The Hiding Place. Few people know about this book which is a shame. It is incredible! After World War II, Corrie travels the world giving the message that God is with you even in the deepest darkest places and that forgiveness, even for the most heinous atrocities, is possible. Miracles do happen and Corrie relays her encounters as she traveled the world.

Devotional:

I have a ton of devotionals. Early on in my spiritual journey I bought several and then people often gave me them. It was how I started out, reading a daily devotional. Now I mostly just read His Word, the Bible. I'm just not a big fan of devotionals anymore. But I am of The Valley of Vision. It is a collection of Puritan prayers & devotions. When I spend a few minutes reading and meditating on one of the prayers, I feel an intimate connection to God. It comes in paperback and bonded leather and I recommend getting it in bonded leather. Why? This is a book you will have the rest of your life. It is a book you will treasure and want to pass on and bless others with.

Just some ideas for gifts to put on your wish list or to give to others.

Who needs another scarf or sweater? Give a gift that is useful.
